Dump Bins vs FSDUs – which to use and when? August 17, 2017 0 comments Many of our customers, especially those who are new to purchasing POS, often deliberate between using a FSDU (Free Standing Display Unit) or Dump Bin to display their products. Both items are effective forms of POS that can help you increase sales within store or on your event stand, if you’re contemplating over which one to opt for here are some things to consider: The size and shape of your product As a rule of thumb, larger heavier products are usually displayed using FSDUs opposed to Dump Bins. Dump Bins tend to have a ‘pile it high’ nature so lend themselves to smaller goods that won’t become damaged if stacked on top of each other. Product Price Dump Bins are often used for low value products, end of lines or special buys, as it isn’t as necessary for the product to look visually pleasing. FSDUs on the otherhand can be used to showcase numerous products from sale items to new lines. Venue Although both forms of POS are suitable for events and exhibitions, you may find more companies opt for Dump Bins when distributing samples at events. It’s quicker to distribute and replenish samples from a Dump Bin rather than having to re-stack and align products on an FSDU. No matter which option you choose, both Dump Bins and FSDUs are best placed in key hotspots around your store, near the till point is a great place to highlight last minute add-on purchases whilst customers are queuing. Other high traffic areas could include at the end of shopping aisles or near the fitting rooms.
